Matchup plan

If team lacks AP and enemy backline is squishy, build AP Malphite to one-shot squishies before teamfights. If enemy lacks tank-busting, prioritize tank items; if team lacks AP damage, build some AP. AP Malphite relies on ult for damage; building tank only lets you get beaten and annoy ADC. If you often die due to poor mechanics, skip Mejai's Soulstealer; other items can carry too.

Malphite vs Yone · Top lane matchup

01

Core game plan

As Malphite vs Yone, poke with Q early, trade after he uses E, and ult first at level 6; he can't beat you.

How a strong Yone player plays

  1. 1

    Bait E, then trade

Yone's E has a long cooldown. He will use E to poke first, then wait for it to end before going all-in. Wait for him to return to his body, then counter-attack.

  2. 2

    Bush camp to bait ult

He likes to ambush you from bushes. Pretend to last-hit to bait his R. Once his ult is down, you regain control.

  3. 3

Fight back with full Lethal Tempo

When he charges at you with full Lethal Tempo stacks, use your Q to knock him up, then W and R to counter. This usually kills him or forces him back.
