Matchup plan

Build AP Malphite if your team lacks AP and enemy backline is squishy, one-shotting them in teamfights. Prioritize tank items if enemy lacks tank-busting; build AP if your team needs magic damage. AP Malphite relies on R for damage; building tank only tickles the ADC. If you die often, skip Mejai's Soulstealer; other items can still carry.

Malphite vs Jax · Top lane matchup

01

Core game plan

Jax gets stronger the longer he fights; Malphite can only trade when his abilities are off cooldown. If Jax gets in melee range, it's tough. Rely on tower dives or jungle ganks to secure kills.

How a strong Jax player plays

  1. 1

    Counter Strike Blocks Poke

Jax uses E to block your Grasp of the Undying procs and abilities, stunning you during trades. Don't fight when his E is up.

  2. 2

    Leap Strike Trade

Jax will use E and Grasp of the Undying to poke you while you last hit, then auto once and back off. Keep your distance.

  3. 3

    Gets Stronger Over Time

Jax's passive increases his attack speed, making him stronger in extended fights. Avoid prolonged trades; burst and disengage.
