Matchup plan

First item Trinity Force, second item Riftmaker for hybrid damage. He usually builds armor early; with Riftmaker, he has to itemize both armor and MR, slowing his build and favoring your trades.

Jax vs Yasuo · Top lane matchup

01

Core game plan

Against a Yasuo of equal skill, Jax has to play passively. You can't contest level 2, and Yasuo can poke you during your E cooldown. You need items to fight him.

Don't push level 1, let Yasuo push; you lose the level 2 all-inAfter Yasuo gets attack speed items, his pressure is high; your E downtime is vulnerablePost-6 you have more burst, but Yasuo is mobile, be carefulMid-game with hybrid build, Yasuo can't itemize against both armor and MRTeamfights Jax is more impactful, can dive backline
03

How a strong Yasuo player plays

  1. 1

    Q poke and kite

Yasuo uses his Q's longer range than your auto to kite you; if you chase, he backs off; if you back off, he Q's you.

  2. 2

    E mobility for trades

Once you use E, he dashes through minions to combo you and then dashes away, leaving you unable to chase.

  3. 3

    Level 2 all-in with E

He hits level 2 first, dashes onto a minion to engage; your Q and E are on cooldown, and you have minion disadvantage, so you lose the trade.
