Gangplank vs Jax · Top lane matchup

01

Core game plan

Jax can jump on you as soon as his E is up, and your barrels are easy to bait. When his E is down, he can still jump to minions to heal. At the same skill level, Gangplank has a hard time.

Don't place barrels randomly; wait for his E.Level 6: His ult has burst. If your barrel is blocked, you're in danger. Watch distance.Mid game: He splits well. Clear waves with barrels and defend turrets. Don't duel.Teamfights: Use barrels for AoE and ult to zone. If he dives your backline, place barrels to protect.

How a strong Jax player plays

  1. 1

    E blocks Q

Jax will use his E to block your Q. Placing a barrel at level 1 can avoid being blocked.

  2. 2

Jump on you when E is down

When your Q and E are down, he'll jump on you to force you back and take lane priority.

  3. 3

    Jump to minion to heal

When both sides' abilities are on cooldown, he'll jump to a minion to heal. You have no sustain, so be careful not to take too much poke.
