Varus vs Draven · Bot lane matchup

01

Core game plan

Varus has long range and strong poke. With Hail of Blades or Arcane Comet, he can trade without taking damage. Once he buys Plated Steelcaps, Draven's damage is halved.

How a strong Draven player plays

  1. 1

    Predict Q on Axe Catch

Good Draven players will intentionally walk to catch axes, but they may suddenly dodge your Q, causing it to miss.

  2. 2

    W Speed Boost All-in

When he uses W to speed up and chase you, even after you trade with Hail of Blades and back off, he can still follow up and trade back. Don't get hit for free.

  3. 3

    E Interrupts Your Combo

When you use Hail of Blades to auto-auto-E, he can use his E to interrupt your E or push you away, ruining your trade.
